Tom Kaulitz n�met zen�sz 1989. szeptember 1-j�n sz�letett Lipcs�ben, t�z perccel ikertestv�re, Bill el�tt. �desanyja, Simone Charlotte Kaulitz fest�n�, apja, J�rg Kaulitz teheraut�sof�r.
1994-ben a kissr�cok a Verr�ckt nach dir c�m� telev�zi�s filmben kaptak egy kisebb szerepet. Egy �vvel k�s�bb, amikor az ikrek hat�vesek voltak, amikor a sz�leik elv�ltak - a v�l�s igencsak megviselte a fi�kat.
1999-ben Simone Magdeburgb�l a Loitsche nev� faluba k�lt�z�tt a gyermekeivel - akkoriban m�r Gordon Tr�mper zenetan�rral j�rt, aki a saj�t band�j�ban, a Fatunban git�rozott. � tan�totta meg Tomot git�rozni �s az ikrek annyira megszerett�k �t, hogy felvett�k a nev�t.
Tom a wolmirstedti Kurf�rst-Joachim-Friedrich gimn�ziumban tanult, de az utols� �veket mag�ntanul�k�nt fejezte be - ahogyan az ikertestv�re is. 2008 tavasz�n tett�k le az �retts�gi vizsg�kat a Bochumer Web-Individualschule nev� internetes iskol�n kereszt�l.
